So, how are things on the ground in America? Forget all the tacky rhetoric, forget Bernanke's " ...We are in recovery now.", what's your own real gut instinct and feeling telling you about the US economy? Since slipping so smoothly into office, how thoroughly has Obama been keeping to all his promises? Has he pulled any troops out of Iraq yet? Has he 'fixed' the Palestinian problem? Have relations with Iran improved? How about his relationships with Russia, China and Israel? Does America feel more secure now that Obama has introduced all those defense cuts? How's the financial recovery stuttering and limping along?
OK, let's stick with ObamaCare in this article. Who, here, actually believes in what Obama is promising with his Health Bill? Who believes that his health care changes will produce "affordable" and "competitive" pricing for drugs and insurance cover?
Let's start with Obama's campaign contributions. All data has been taken from OpenSecrets.org.
Looks like President Obama is heavily influenced by the lobbyists. Oh dear, what a pity. Second top contributor is the Finance sector -- read Wall Street. What a sad disappointment this is. And there, within the top 4, is the Health Industry -- Big Pharma. Don't they just love him? Mmm...I wonder why?
And some additional info from OpenSecrets.org. The top campaign contributors in 2008 for the Democrats -- Yes, you've guessed it !! -- was the Health sector, with total campaign contributions of $50,024,729!! To be fair, the Health sector also contributed $44,890,149 to the Republicans. So it looks to me from all these generous "donations" that the Health sector has got both Houses sewn up and paid for. And how all those Health industry shareholders must be licking their monetary chops in anticipation of all that future profit and dividend...!!
And just in passing, I also notice that within the top ten major PAC contributors to the Obama campaign for 2008 were Goldman Sachs, CitiGroup and JP Morgan Chase. Ah yes, no surprise here really, just thought you'ld like to know....
Health Care More Affordable?
Health Care Competitive?
For Who?
I've presented some damning evidence here. Evidence of the Health Sector's very cosy alliance with Obama as well as to his party. Why would they ever do this? And why would the Health Insurance sector donate $150 million in advertising to the ObamaCare program? Isn't it true that the Health sector and Big Pharma would never commit business suicide by going along with Obama's "affordable" and "competitive" Health Bill tag? Wouldn't that kill their profits? So who do you think is really lying here?
And remember, the Health sector and Big Pharma never ever makes a move unless it is for profit. Descriptive, poetic phrases which include "affordable" and "competitive" that constantly emanate from Obama's speeches make my skin crawl with the hypocrisy of it all. I am, instead, reminded of another well-known cronyist political habit, which is perhaps best embodied in phrases such as "Payback Time" and "You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours".
So, there will be no public health care option. That's dead for sure because its bad for business. And as for "affordable" or "competitive" health care, I suppose you could always try whistling for it or try going herbal...

You are 100% correct. Nothing substantive will change so long as either the Democrats or Republicans are the dominant political parties. There really is very little difference and both are totally captured by big money interests (as are the key regulators).
The only thing we can see on the very distant horizon are: 1) a third political party lead by some real Americans, not lawyers, who have the personal wealth and desire to make decisions that are in the best interest of the country, 2) Total economic collapse of the US via the corruption and greed of the current process, devaluation of the dollar, etc, or 3) Revolution - the masses simply revolt against the politicans and large oligarchs and bring the system down - might be something like a taxpayer revolt and refusal to pay taxes if enough people were willing to pay the price in terms of incarcaration and loss of assets, or maybe even a massive multi-million person march or civil unrest.
Who knows, but eventually change will be forced in one way or another. The current "system glide path" is simply unsustainable.
